Solution

The perimeter of the square cardboard is equal to the length of the ribbon 

That is perimeter= 20cm

Perimeter of a square= 4L

20cm= 4L

L= 20cm/4 = 5cm

Area of a square= l2

                              = {5cm}2= 5cm X 5cm= 25cm2

Ans= B

2).The annual profit of a transport business were divided between the two partners A and B in the ratio 3:5. If B received N3000 more than A, the total profit was (jamb 1979 Qust 8)

A. N5000  

B  N1800

C. N12000

Solution

3:5= X: 3000 + X

3/5= X/3000 + X

Cross multiplying 

3(3000 + X) = 5(X)

9000 + 3X = 5X

9000= 5X – 3X

9000= 2X or 2X= 9000

Divide through by 2

2X/2= 9000/2

X= 4500

Total profit= profit A + profit B

T profit= X + X + 3000

T profit= 4500 + 4500 + 3000= N12000

Ans= C

3)In base ten, the number 1011012 equals

Solution

1011012= 1X25 + 0X24 + 1X23 + 1X22 + 0X21 + 1X20

r= d/2 = 42/2= 21m

Area of a semi-circle= πr2/2
